Cargo bike grants for professionals in France (2026): up to €3,000 depending on your area
Thinking of replacing a van with a professional cargo bike? Good news: in 2026, several schemes in France still fund a large share of your purchase, up to €3,000 per bike depending on your area. Some can be combined.
We have checked each grant with the official bodies. Here is what you need to know.
Programme Marguerite: test, then buy, up to €1,000 excl. VAT
Funded by the French State through energy-savings certificates, the Programme Marguerite helps craftspeople and retailers reduce the use of their vehicle in town.
- How it works: you test a cargo bike with no commitment, then receive a purchase grant.
- Amount: up to €1,000 excl. VAT.
- Areas: Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille, Nantes and Aix-Marseille.
- Deadline: the programme ends on 31 December 2026. Now is the time.

City and metropolitan grants
Lyon Metropolis: up to €3,000
One of the most generous grants for professionals. The Lyon Metropolis pays €3,000 for an electric cargo bike (€1,000 without assistance), up to 60% of the pre-tax price. It covers purchase and leases of more than 36 months, for up to 6 bikes for businesses inside the low-emission zone (3 outside).
City of Paris: up to €1,200
Companies with fewer than 50 employees registered in Paris, as well as Paris-based sole traders and liberal professions, can receive 50% of the pre-tax price of a new cargo bike or trike, capped at €1,200. One grant per entity; finance leases are not eligible.
Toulouse Metropolis: up to €1,000
For companies and associations with fewer than 250 employees in the 37 municipalities of the metropolis: 40% of the pre-tax price, up to €1,000 for an electric cargo bike, purchased or on long-term lease, for up to 3 bikes.
Grenoble Alpes Metropolis
The grant for cleaner vehicles covers cargo bikes, trikes and trailers, for professionals based in the metropolis, up to 5 vehicles.
Craft businesses in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: €2,000 more
The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Chamber of Trades pays up to €2,000 to craft businesses located in air-protection (PPA) zones: Lyon area, Grenoble, Arve valley, Clermont-Ferrand and Loire-Forez. It can be combined with other grants and is open until 31 December 2027.
👉 A craftsperson in Lyon can therefore combine the Metropolis grant and the Chamber of Trades grant to greatly reduce the cost of their cargo bike.
And elsewhere in France?
Grants are now provided locally: the national bike bonus ended in February 2025 and the energy-savings certificate scheme for cargo bikes in September 2025. In Bordeaux, for example, the Metropolis grant is for private individuals only, so professionals use the Programme Marguerite.
Other levers are available everywhere: long-term leasing to spread the investment, and much lower running costs than a van (no fuel, no parking fines, affordable maintenance).
Our tips to get your grant
- Check before you buy: some grants must be requested before purchase.
- Keep your documents: company registration, invoice, conformity certificate (EN 15194) and FNUCI marking are often required.
- Think about combining: local grants, the Chamber of Trades and Programme Marguerite can sometimes be added together.
- Don't wait: budgets are limited and Marguerite ends at the end of 2026.
